By 2020, China's LNG imports will exceed 60 million tons

Liquefied natural gas is referred to as LNG,LNG is cooled to -162 ℃ by gaseous natural gas at atmospheric pressure to condense it into liquid. Liquefied natural gas can greatly save storage and transportation space, and has the characteristics of large calorific value and high performance.

LNG is a clean and efficient energy source. As the import of LNG helps energy consuming countries to diversify energy supply and ensure energy security, while the export of LNG helps natural gas producing countries to effectively develop natural gas resources, increase foreign exchange income and promote national economic development, LNG trade is becoming a new hot spot in the global energy market.

Natural gas is becoming more and more popular as a clean energy. Many countries have listed LNG as the preferred fuel, and the proportion of natural gas in energy supply has increased rapidly. Liquefied natural gas is growing at a high rate of about 12% per year, making it one of the fastest growing energy industries in the world. In recent years, global LNG production and trade have become increasingly active, LNG has become a scarce clean resource, is becoming a new hot spot in the world oil and gas industry. In order to ensure the diversification of energy supply and improve the energy consumption structure, some energy consuming countries pay more and more attention to the introduction of LNG. Japan, South Korea, the United States and Europe are building LNG receiving stations on a large scale. International big oil companies have also turned their new profit growth point to LNG business, LNG will become the next global competition after oil hot energy commodity.

The utilization of natural gas in China is extremely unbalanced, and the proportion of natural gas in China's energy consumption is very small. From the perspective of my country's natural gas development situation, natural gas resources are limited, natural gas production is far less than demand, and the gap between supply and demand is increasing. Although it has not yet formed a scale, the characteristics of LNG determine the rapid development of LNG. It is foreseeable that in the next 10-20 years, LNG will become the main force in China's natural gas market.

With the sustained and rapid development of China's economy, energy is extremely scarce. China's energy structure is dominated by coal, and oil and natural gas account for only a small proportion, which is far below the world average. With the continuous growth of the country's demand for energy, the introduction of LNG can optimize China's energy structure, effectively solve the dual problems of energy supply security and ecological environment protection, and achieve sustainable economic and social development.

At present, China is in the stage of industrialization, the energy structure is dominated by coal, and the task of controlling greenhouse gas emissions is arduous. Natural gas is a kind of clean energy. The greenhouse gas produced by the combustion of natural gas is only 1/2 of that of coal and 2/3 of that of oil, which causes far less pollution to the environment than that of oil and coal. Therefore, accelerating the development and rational use of natural gas can effectively improve the atmospheric environment and promote the realization of emission reduction targets. Global climate change will increase the demand for natural gas and bring opportunities for the development of natural gas and LNG industry.

According to statistics from the "2013-2017 China LNG Industry Development Prospects and Investment Forecast Analysis Report", in 2012, my country's natural gas output was 107.7 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 6.5; imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) was 14.683478 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 20.28. It is estimated that by 2020, China's natural gas gap will exceed 135 billion cubic meters, and LNG imports will exceed 60 million tons annually.

The LNG industry research group of the Prospective Industry Research Institute pointed out that LNG is a clean energy source, which is in line with the development direction of international and my country's energy conservation, environmental protection, and low-carbon economy. In the future, the use of LNG will continue to increase, and the development prospects of the industry are promising.
