On the 2nd, a review meeting on the environmental impact assessment of inland nuclear power plants was held in Beijing. Many experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the Chinese Academy of Atomic Energy, and Tsinghua University said that the radioactive effluent from my country's inland nuclear power plants It can meet the requirements of international high standards. my country's inland nuclear power plants adopt third-generation nuclear power technology, and the safety level is further improved, which can ensure the safety of water resources and public health.

For inland nuclear power construction, China's relevant government departments have been very cautious, especially concerned about the impact of inland nuclear power plant operation on the water environment. After the Fukushima nuclear accident, the public's doubts about the construction of inland nuclear power have increased significantly.

In response to the government and the public's doubts about inland nuclear power plants, the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association has begun to carry out research on inland nuclear power construction since 2008, including the location of inland nuclear power, the impact on the water environment, and the impact on the environment. Risk assessment, etc.

In April 2012, the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association organized more than 50 experts and experienced engineers and technicians in the industry to carry out an assessment study on the environmental impact of inland nuclear power plants.

The researchers selected the experience of environmental radiation impact of inland nuclear power plants in typical nuclear power countries in the United States and France, and conducted in-depth research on the site selection, water use, heat dissipation, radiation impact, and environmental risks after serious accidents of inland nuclear power plants, with a view to giving a scientific and objective assessment of the environmental impact of inland nuclear power plants, so as to eliminate the public's doubts about inland nuclear power construction, for the relevant government departments for inland nuclear power decision-making to provide strong support.

After review, experts agreed that nuclear power is a clean, efficient, and high-quality modern energy source. From the perspective of sustainable social and economic development, my country needs to develop nuclear power on a large scale, including the development of nuclear power in inland areas.
