Xinjiang newly approved four thermal power projects with a total installed capacity of 2.8 million kilowatts

The reporter learned from the Development and Reform Commission of Xinjiang Autonomous Region on March 27 that Shenhua Wocaiwan Thermal Power Plant, Huaneng Luntai Thermal Power Plant, Guodian Karamay Thermal Power Plant, Guodian Korla Thermal Power Plant and other thermal power projects have been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The total installed capacity of the four power projects is 2.8 million kilowatts, and the total project investment is 12.502 billion yuan.
Since this spring, in accordance with the arrangement and deployment of the autonomous region's "good start to the Spring Festival and practical work to promote implementation"-major project construction promotion activities, focusing on meeting the electricity demand in Xinjiang, the autonomous region's development and reform Commission has actively urged and coordinated the power supply project units to change winter leisure into winter busy, accelerate the preliminary work of thermal power projects that have obtained "road strips", assign special personnel to be responsible, connect separately, and keep a close eye on every link of project approval, further strengthen the connection and communication with relevant national ministries and commissions, and strive for approval to start construction.
The Development and Reform Commission of the Autonomous Region stated that after the four major power projects are put into production, they will add 14 billion kilowatt-hours of power generation, consume 7.6 million tons of coal per year, achieve fiscal and tax revenue of more than 0.4 billion yuan, and provide nearly 1,000 jobs.
It is understood that these projects built in the load center cities and industrial parks in our district will effectively improve the power guarantee capacity of the area, meet the heating needs of urban residents in winter and industrial heat in the park, and replace a large number of high pollution and low efficiency. Small heating boilers are of great significance for adjusting and optimizing the regional industrial structure, promoting urbanization and the construction of industrial parks, and promoting local economic development.
At present, the installed power capacity of our district has reached 27.4 million kilowatts, which is more than 11 million kilowatts compared with the new installed power capacity at the end of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", which is equivalent to the total installed power capacity of Xinjiang at the beginning of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan. In 2012, the region's power generation capacity was 118.826 billion kWh, an increase of 35.8 percent over the previous year and 31 percentage points higher than the national average growth rate. The new power generation will be 14 billion kWh to achieve fiscal revenue of more than 0.4 billion yuan.
