The Fifth China Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing Summit Forum Held in Chengdu

On the morning of May 19, the Fifth China Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing Summit Forum opened at the new exhibition. More than 150 domestic and foreign experts attended the meeting, and relevant leaders of Chengdu attended.

The forum aims to focus on advanced nuclear power equipment manufacturing technology, promote nuclear power safety and environmental protection, and learn the latest successful practices and lessons. It is reported that the forum has been incorporated into the major investment promotion activities plan of Chengdu throughout the year and is an important investment promotion platform for the development of the nuclear power industry in Chengdu.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, Chengdu Investment Promotion Committee first introduced the general situation of Chengdu nuclear power equipment manufacturing industry. Subsequently, Tang Zide, a member of the Expert Committee of the Office of the Nuclear Power Leading Group of the State Council, and other experts who attended the meeting successively gave speeches on the theme of nuclear power safety development. Xue Xinmin, a senior researcher on nuclear power at the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced the medium and long-term plans for China's nuclear power industry after the start of the 12th five-year Plan.

Among the experts attending the meeting, about 30 came from abroad. The Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan is also one of the topics of the meeting. Mr. Edward Kee, Vice President of NERA Consulting Company in the United States, brought a speech on the impact of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident on the development of nuclear power in the world. In the group discussion, experts will also discuss the potential risks of nuclear power plants, analyze the safety of modern nuclear power plant construction, and discuss emergency response measures and plans. And on the recent Fukushima nuclear power accident to sum up experience and lessons.

It is reported that China is the world's nuclear power plant construction planning and under construction of the largest country. As of October last year, the capacity of domestic nuclear power units in service was about 10.838 million kilowatts, and the nuclear motor assembly capacity of the first phase of the nuclear power plant project under construction was as high as more than 3189 million kilowatts. The planned total installed capacity of the nuclear power plant project under construction reached more than 6711 million kilowatts. After completion, the total nuclear power assembly capacity will exceed about 75 million kilowatts. In addition, a large number of nuclear power plant projects are being selected for site declarations, and the expected to exceed 2500 million kilowatts. Industry insiders believe that 2011 will be the starting year for the peak of nuclear power plant equipment manufacturing and supply.

Dr. Wei Li of the Nuclear Safety Administration of the Ministry of Environmental Protection said that after the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Energy Administration, and the Chinese prefectural bureau jointly formed an inspection team to conduct comprehensive safety inspections of my country's nuclear facilities. At present, the comprehensive safety inspection of all operating units has been completed, and the comprehensive safety inspection of nuclear power projects under construction will be carried out soon.

He said that at present, my country's nuclear power safety record is good. The 13 nuclear power units in service have not had any operational incidents or accidents of level 2 or above, and the construction quality of nuclear power units under construction is also under control.
