Securities Times Network (www.stcn.com) recently, Li Ganjie, vice minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said that the proportion of cities meeting the environmental air quality standards in the first stage of monitoring and implementation of the new standards in 74 cities across the country was only 4.1 percent. The increasingly severe air quality has aroused high-level attention, and relevant response measures have been introduced one after another. It is not enough to reduce energy consumption. Increasing the use of clean energy is the most effective and long-term method. Nuclear power is an effective way to reduce haze weather in China.
According to the Shanghai Securities News, a nuclear power plant with a million kilowatts of electric power can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 600 million tons per year compared with coal-fired power plants. In addition, the cost advantage of nuclear power is particularly obvious. The power generation cost of nuclear power is low, with an average power generation cost of 0.3-0.4 yuan/kwh. The average power generation cost of natural gas, wind power and solar energy is 0.4-0.5 yuan/kwh, 0.4-0.6 yuan/kwh and 1-1.4 yuan/kwh respectively. In addition, nuclear power can replace thermal power as a base-charge power source.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Roland Berger, one of the world's largest strategic management consulting companies, published a research report in Brussels on the 17th, predicting that the world's nuclear power installed capacity will increase by 26% in the next 15 years.
