Taohua River Expected to Be the First Inland Nuclear Power Plant to Be Built

According to the Shanghai Securities News, at the 4th China Nuclear Energy Sustainable Development Forum held yesterday, Wang Liangfang, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and director of the Energy Bureau, said that the Hunan Taohuajiang nuclear power project has basically met the conditions for commencement. After the "13th Five-Year Plan" started the construction of inland nuclear power plants, Taohua River is expected to become the first inland nuclear power plant to be built.

It is reported that the planned capacity of the Taohuajiang nuclear power project is 4*1.24 million kilowatts. Two third-generation AP1000 nuclear power units will be built in the first phase. The first unit is planned to start construction in early 2016 and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2020. The total project investment is 74 billion yuan.
