China's nuclear power development must be accelerated to achieve emission reduction targets
Release time:
2013-09-13
The 7th China International Nuclear Power Industry Equipment Exhibition in 2013 was successfully concluded in Beijing. Nearly 500 enterprises and scientific research institutes from more than 20 countries and regions participated in the exhibition. At the China Nuclear Power Sustainable Development Summit Forum held at the same time as the exhibition, the reporter learned that my country's nuclear power construction is accelerating and will usher in a peak by 2020. As a representative product of my country's third-generation nuclear power technology, the localization rate of ACPR1000 and CAP1400 will be greatly increased, reaching 85% and 55% respectively.
Ye Qizhen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the forum, "From the perspective of environment and resources, the development of nuclear power is an inevitable choice." Yang Qi, vice chairman of the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association, also said that China's goal of achieving 15% of non-fossil energy by 2020 and 40% of carbon dioxide emission reduction cannot be achieved without nuclear power.
Jian Jingwen, deputy director of the Equipment Department of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, said that according to the requirements for nuclear power installed capacity set by the national nuclear development plan, the future demand for nuclear power units will reach nearly 200. It is estimated that 4-6 new nuclear power units will be approved each year during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, which will increase to 6-8 units per year during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, and 10 units will be steadily added each year after 2020.
The development of third-generation technology is the mainstream of China's nuclear power construction. As a representative product of China's third-generation nuclear power technology, the localization rate of ACPR1000 and CAP1400 has been greatly improved. At present, the three generations of PWR nuclear power under construction in the world are mainly AP1000 and ERP. Among them, the AP1000 and its improved models mainly have two technical routes: the national nuclear power-led CAP1400 and the ACPR1000 represented by CNNC and CGNPC.
Ye Qizhen said that the net power of CAP1400 new units independently developed on the basis of the introduction of AP1000 is more than 1400MW, and it is expected to be connected to the grid in 2018. Jian Jingwen said that the localization rate of CAP1400 demonstration projects will reach 55%. The localization rate of CGN ACPR1000's units in Yangjiang can reach up to 85%. It is expected to complete research and development by the end of the year and put into construction early next year.
